BIG TAX BREAK FOR DURACOOL THERMAL CONTROL ROOF COATING
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 provides tax breaks for owners or lessees of commercial buildings who implement energy savings improvements to their building envelope. For example; in the case of a building with air conditioning and a dark colored roof (EPDM, black built-up, bare metal) one can achieve 20-30% energy savings by installing a white heat reflective Duracool roof coating. The energy bill provides for a $0.60/sq.ft.tax deduction for any savings over 16 2/3%. This covers most of the cost of the Duracool. This also results in about a one year payback on an improvement with a 12-15 year service life.
